A resident of Mahdia is dead and several other members of the Full Gospel Church were injured in a collision between a lorry and Tapir vehicle on the Soesdyke Highway.
They were on their way to a crusade at Bellvue, West Coast Demerara for a crusade.
Police said the dead man has been identified as 22-year old Clifton Marks of Mahdia, Region 8. The Tapir driver is one of two persons in a critical condition. Three others were treated and sent away. They were all staying at the Full Gospel’s Hauraruni Centre.
The driver of lorry, GKK 6350, told investigators that as he was climbing the hill at One Mile, Soesdyke, the Tapir veered off into his path and continued moving.
Police believed that the Tapir suffered a mechanical failure.
