Suspected bandits arrested, handgun found

Four suspected bandits, who were probably planning to rob an East Bank Demerara gas station, were arrested by police after they fled the area.

Investigators said a handgun was found in possession of one of the suspects.

Police said that about 1030 AM Thursday, the police were alerted concerning four men along with a parked motor car and motor cycle in the vicinity the Rubis Gas Station at Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara.

The police responded and upon arrival the motor vehicles with the four men sped away. The police gave chase and subsequently caught up with the motor vehicles and the men.

They have been arrested and an unlicensed 9mm. pistol with six rounds recovered. The motor vehicles have been detained. Investigations are in progress.
