On a respirator and hooked up to a monitor at the Accident and Emergency Unit, Robinson was responding well to visitors. He was due to have a Computerized Tomography (CT scan) done to determine the extent of injuries to his head which was swollen in several places.
Robinson said he did not recall the occurrence. “I don’t remember anything that happened. But I must thank you all for coming,” he told two of his long-time friends who visited him very briefly. He readily recognized and interacted with the visitors most of whom were from the theatrical and broadcasting fraternity.
The accident occurred on Light Street, Alberttown between Second and Third Streets.
The owner of the Ducati 1100 CC motorbike said he, Ron and several other persons were drinking at a shop on Light Street. Several times during the evening, the owner said, Ron had asked for the keys to take a ride but he (the owner) declined the requests.
The owner said before leaving, he put the key in the ignition and went to the urinal. While there, he heard a loud noise.
The owner said Ron apparently pulled the very sensitive brakes, slid on the road and plunged through the windscreen of a parked car.
Pictures too graphic to post show a bloodied Robinson with head injuries on the road and being lifted up by public spirited citizens.
