Two cutlass-wielding bandits robbed Alliance For Change (AFC) Executive Member, Onix Duncan of his GY$250,000 motorcycle after one of them lashed him to his back with one of the weapons, he confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. as he was riding south along the University of Guyana Access Road, Turkeyen, in the vicinity of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Guyana Forensic Laboratory, police said.
Duncan, 28, an office assistant, reportedly told police that the bandits rode up behind him on a black motorcycle. “As the suspect approached him, the pillion rider attempted to pull out his motorcycle keys. He then fought them off, and the pillion rider dealt him a lash on his back with the cutlass which caused him to fall to the ground,” the Guyana Police Force said.
Mr Duncan told Demerara Waves Online News that he was not hospitalised and police, along with him, returned to the crime scene and several other places in search of the Honda Navi motorcycle bearing registration number CP 234.
Police said the pillion rider then relieved him of the motorcycle and both suspects escaped heading north on UG road. Police said several persons in the area were questioned.
