St.Lucian women with cocaine-dildos fined, jailed

Last Updated on Thursday, 19 November 2015, 16:09 by GxMedia

Chermisa Wheeler and Andree Willy
The two St. Lucian women, who were caught with cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport this week, were Thursday fined and jailed for being  in possession of that narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.

Cosmetologist 38-year old Chermisa Wheeler and babysitter 43-year old babysitter, Andree Willy pleaded guilty to the separate charges.

City Magistrate, Judy Latchman fined Wheeler GYD$79,200 and jailed her for 48 months for being in possession of 88 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.  Willy was fined GYD$268,200 and sentenced to 50 months imprisonment for being in possession of 298 grammes of cocaine.

Willy cried as Magistrate Latchman was contemplating the duration of the jail term.

Police Prosecutor, Shellon Daniels told the court that Customs Ant-Narcotics Unit (CANU) agents searched the women because they behaved in a suspicious manner as they approached the scanner at the airport. At the time, Wheeler and Willy were returning to their native St. Lucia.

The court was told that the women were transporting the cocaine in their vaginas in the form of dildos.
