Two shot at Coverden night spot

Police are probing the shooting of a patron and a waitress while an attempt was being made to disharm a policeman

At 0100h. today Saturday November 14, 2015, police ranks responded to a report of disorderly behavior by a number of patrons at a night spot at Coverden, East Bank Demerara.

During efforts by the police to arrest one of the persons who was allegedly involved in the fracas, a scuffle ensued between the man and an armed policeman, during which the man tried to disharm the police and a round was discharged. The bullet struck the man to his abdomen and also struck a female, Odessa Glasgow 27 years, of Belle Alliance, Essequibo coast, who was a waitress at the night spot, to her right tigh.

Odessa Glasgow and the man who has been identified as Linden Samuels 33 years, of Soesdyke, EBD, have been admitted to the GPHC.

Investigations are in progress.
