Police probe ammo discovery, shooting of Brazilian in Mahdia

Two men have been arrested in connection with the discovery of more than 300 rounds of ammunition in the interior.

The arrest of the men at Blackwater, Mahdia comes as the one month gun and ammunition enters its 18th day.

Police said that on Thursday, September 17, 2015, they conducted a search on two men at Black Water, Mahdia, during which fourteen 12 gauge shotguns cartridges, seventy six .38 rounds, one hundred 9mm. rounds and one hundred and fifty .32 rounds were found.

Also in the interior, investigators were also probing the shooting of a Brazilian at Blackwater, Cuyuni.

At about 1300h Thursday September 17, 2015, Brazilian national Jose D’Andrade, 30 years, of Bartica, was confronted by two men at Black Water, Cuyuni, and an argument ensued over the dust that was being caused by an ATV that he was driving.

During the altercation shots were discharged at Jose D’Andrade and he was struck to his back. He has been admitted to hospital.
