Jennifer Westford to be charged in connection with acquiring State-owned vehicles

Last Updated on Tuesday, 28 July 2015, 21:23 by GxMedia

Dr. Jennifer Westford
Former Public Service Minister Dr. Jennifer Westford is to be charged in connection with the alleged purchase and attempted transfer of several government vehicles, police confirmed.

Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum said he could not immediately provide the details of the charges.

A source at the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Chambers on Tuesday confirmed that charges have been recommended against Westford.

When contacted, Westford declined to comment on her political future or react to the charges without first being told the offences.

Westford is among the 32 persons identified to represent her People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) in the National Assembly.

Police had said that Westford had facilitated the return of at least eight vehicles that she had purportedly purchased in her name and the names of several other persons including her paramour.

She had sought to do so shortly before the PPP Civic led administration had demitted office to make way for the new coalition administration to take over having been victorious at the May 11, 2015 general and regional elections.
