Sea water gushing through the defective koker at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara.

Residents of Windsor Forest and neighbouring villages on the West Coast Demerara  were Saturday afternoon bracing for flood after problems developed with a recently built koker (drainage sluice).

Residents said the GUY$148 million dollar koker buckled under pressure from the high tide at about 5 PM.

A resident explained that creases or spaces have developed between the boards that are part of the koker door.

The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) have been informed.
