Director General of Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Elisabeth Harper is the prime ministerial candidate for the incumbent People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) at the May 11, 2015 general and regional elections.

The announcement was made by President Donald Ramotar, with her next to his side, at the PPP’s Headquarters, Freedom House, Robb Street.

Harper, 57, has worked in the Foreign Service for decades. She hails from Kitty, Greater Georgetown.

Harper succeeds outgoing Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds who has held that position since 1992 when the PPPC was voted into office for the first time in 28 years.
