Three men posing as policemen Sunday night tied up a family and visiting relatives at their Providence, East Bank Demerara home.
The incident occurred about 7 PM at the Leungs home at Buddy’s Housing Scheme, Green Acres.
Melanie Leung, whose husband is a gold miner, said the gun-toting bandits carted off two computers, two Samsung Galaxy s4 Active, one Samsung Galaxy s3 mini, Blackberry phones, cash and jewellery.
“They just tied us up and took everything they could,” she told Demerara Waves Online News. “They came in asking where is the gold and money,” she said.
Leung recalled that the men had gone to her gate earlier and said they were policemen checking the neighbourhood. She said the men invaded her home after her son opened the door 10 minutes later to go to the back of the yard.
No one was reported arrested. Police responded to an emergency call and took statements.
Leung said those tied up with duct tape included herself, three kids as well as four nieces and step-daughter who were paying a weekend visit.
She said that after the bandits left, she managed to bite off the duct tape and free the other persons. They were not injured, she said
