GPL announces maintenance blackouts for Essequibo Coast

The Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) is moving apace with its scheduled engine overhauls at Anna Regina. From June 6 to July 4, 2014 an engine overhaul will be executed on the Caterpillar Unit at Anna Regina. Overhauls of the Wartsila No. 1 and No. 2 Gensets were completed earlier this year, and 2014 major maintenance on engines at Anna Regina will be completed with the overhaul of the Caterpillar Unit.

As a result of this exercise, there will be insufficient capacity to satisfy demand during peak hours and residents on the Essequibo Coast will be subject to scheduled load-shedding as follows:
