DEAD: Fizul Houssin

A fisherman was early Independence Day- Monday- struck down and killed by a hit-and-run motor vehicle.

He has been identified as 31-year old Fizul Houssin of Success, East Coast Demerara and 401 Foulis, East Coast Demerara. He was a driver.

The dead man’s friend Kamaldin Hussain told Demerara Waves that he and Fizul had gone to fish as a hobby when the incident occurred about 5 AM on on the Railway Embankment, Bel Air, Georgetown.

He told Demerara Waves that he left his friend and went to another location to throw his cast net. At that time, he said he heard a loud noise and a vehicle passed him speedin. Hussain said he immediately rushed to where he had left hs friend but dod not see him.

However he said he saw a splash in the water and stopped a vehicle. After telling the driver what had happened, a search was launched and they searched for Fizul in the trench.

Shortly after they found Fizul and attempted rescuitate him while awaiting an ambulance. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His reputed wife Sheann Singh, who broke down in tears while talking to this publication, stated that her husband left home around 3 AM and three hours later she received the bad news that he was at the hospital and that he died.

Fizul leaves to mourn his reputed wife and two daughters from another relationship, his father and five siblings.
