Fire guts Mahaicony house

Fire believed to be the work of arsonists destroyed a house at Cottage, Mahaicony early Tuesday morning.

It was not immediately clear whether the lone occupant, Monica Chisolm, was at home when the fire started shortly before 1 AM. Her sons are overseas.

Fire fighters battled the blaze and began bringing it under control around 1:30 AM

Residents believe that the house located on the Cottage Public Road was the subject of a dispute.

She had some months ago put it up for sale with an asking price of GUY$55 million.

The concrete structure included apartments on the lower flat for short-term rental to overseas-based visitors.
