Wounded body of semi-nude fisherman found on friend’s bridge

The wounded and semi-nude body of a fish vendor was Saturday found on his friend’s bridge at Westminster, Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, police said.

The dead man has been identified as 55-year old Robert Manner of 5737 West Minister.

Police have since held his friend, 33-year old Kapil Datt, for questioning because it was on his bridge that Manner’s body was found lying around 6 AM.

Manner’s head bore a wound and his pants were pulled below his waist. An autopsy will determine the cause of death and whether he was sexually assaulted.

Investigators were told that someone nearby heard a screaming shortly after Friday night’s televised cricket match.

Manner’s body was subsequently discovered.
