Reepu Daman Persaud Veteran politician and one of Guyana’s longest serving politicians, Reepu Daman Persaud died on Sunday, according to well-placed sources. He was 77.

A building contractor was Saturday afternoon shot several times and robbed of some $350,000 near a construction site on the East Bank Demerara. Injured is 43 year old Umraow Khan of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.

Digicel CEO Gregory Dean Digicel on Saturday revealed that the solar equipment it was using to power its Omai site was stolen with CEO Gregory Dean expressing disappointment. The theft which occurred on Thursday resulted in the total loss of services in Omai and surrounding communities, a company release stated. The police are investigating the theft.
