A joiner was stabbed to death early Monday morning a short distance from his residence at Phase 1, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.
He has been identified as 23-year old Navin “Buddy” Jangbir.
The incident occurred at about 12:45 Monday during an altercation between him and a group of males. “During the altercation, Jangbir reportedly sustained a stab wound to the left side of his abdomen. He subsequently collapsed in the vicinity of his residence,” police said.
No one has been arrested. Police said they were reviewing video recordings from Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras that were seen in the area.
The Guyana Police Force said Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene and Jangbir was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
