Man commits suicide after chopping wife

A man chopped his wife severely before committing suicide at their Corentyne home, police said.

The woman, 50-year old Totmattie Juianand, was chopped about her body. Police said she was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where she has been admitted.

Her husband, 58-years old Deonarine Juinanand, was later found hanging from the ceiling in his home. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Investigators were told that about 3 PM  Monday afternoon the Juianands were involved in an argument during which he allegedly chopped his wife.
