Mr Richard Stanton

ATN International (ATNI) – the parent company of One Communications – on Wednesday said its new Chief Executive Officer is Richard Stanton who would be taking over from Damian Blackburn.

The decision is in keeping with ATNI’s “strategic leadership transition” aimed at further strengthening the company’s commitment to delivering faster, more reliable, and more responsive service to customers across all markets.

Effective July 1, 2025, Mr Blackburn, President of International Operations and CEO of One Communications Guyana, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for ATN’s international businesses and strategic advisor to ATN International.

In this new capacity, Mr. Blackburn will chair the Board responsible for ATN’s international operations, strengthen relationships with key partners, and provide strategic direction on corporate development across the organization.

Mr Damian Blackburn

As Damian transitions out of day-to-day operations, Richard Stanton, who has been serving as Deputy CEO, will assume leadership of the Guyana operations, according to a statement dispatched by One Communications to the media.

Brad Martin, CEO of ATN International, stated “Over the past four years, Damian’s leadership in Guyana has helped us to transform our business. Now, we are excited to welcome Damian into this new, expanded role providing strategic insight across all of our international operations. Richard Stanton’s continued leadership in Guyana gives us confidence to drive growth and service excellence as part of our ongoing mission,” Mr Martin was quoted as saying in the statement.

One Communications is formerly GTT and Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company.

In 1990, the then government, as part of structural economic adjustment programmes overseen by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, had sold out 80 percent of the then State-owned Guyana Telecommunications Corporation to the then Atlantic Tele-Network , now ATN International. Government later sold the remaining 20 percent to Hong Kong Golden Telecom Limited (HKGT) in April 2012.
