A cargo truck on Monday slipped off the Bartica ferry stelling ramp because the vessel was not properly moored and tied to the facility, a well-placed source said.
The truck was not damaged, but the source said several persons could face disciplinary action because they were allegedly negligent.
The Public Works Ministry said an investigation has been launched into the incident that occurred at 10:45 a.m. and involved a heavy-laden truck which was transported from Parika to Bartica on board the M.V. Malali.
The aim of the probe, the ministry said, was to prevent a reoccurrence.
Government said the M.V. Malali has since been loaded to capacity, with 17 vehicles, occupying 31 spaces, and has departed Bartica, as at 2:30 p.m. en route to Parika “without further incident”.
