Son of Chinese restaurateur; bus driver on dangerous driving charges

The son of the owner of Good Taste Chinese Restaurant was Wednesday placed on GUY$40,000 bail on separate charges of dangerous driving.

Sumhao Huang of  4 Norton Street, Georgetown was accused of committing the offence on March 11 at Crown and Irving Streets, Georgetown. Police said he drove motor car PPP 7082 in a manner dangerous to the public.

Speaking through an interpreter, he pleaded not guilty, was granted bail and ordered to return to court on April 8.

Defence lawyer, Adrian Thompson told the court that Huang was hit by a minibus and he hit someone else.  

The prosecution did not object to bail which was granted by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty.

Meanwhile, minibus driver Adrian Brandt was granted bail when he appeared before the same magistrate on a similar charge.

Brandt pleaded not guilty to the charge that on February 21 at Croal and Camp Streets, he drove  minibus BRR 5727 in a manner dangerous to the public.

He told the court that he was overtaking another vehicle on the left hand when he ended up hitting someone else.

The father of 12 was ordered to post the bail and return to court on April 8
