Police were Thursday night checking their database to ascertain who might be then owner of a handgun that was found on the East Bank Demerara Public Road.
A traffic policeman found the .32 Taurus Pistol and 12 matching rounds on the Bagotstown Public Road in the vicinity of Gossai’s Liquor Store about 5:30 PM Thursday.
Police sources said the serial number on the weapon was visible and would be used to determine if it was owned by a licensed firearm owner.
The Guyana Police Force also traces firearms by submitting the relevant information to foreign agencies and organisations.
