Two agents of Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) were Monday arraigned and bailed GUY$300,000 for alleged corrupt transactions by receiving rewards to inspect a motor vehicle to transport fuel.Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted GUY$150,000 bail each to 27-year old Quincy Gibson of 20 Co-op Society Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, and 29-year old David Denny of 849 Section A Block X, Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
The duo has to return to court on April 8.
They pleaded not guilty to corruptly obtaining GUY$150,000 from Ramona Spencer as a reward for failing to inspect and approve a motor vehicle to transport fuel for her. They allegedly committed the offence at the GNBS Headquarters, Sophia Exhibition Site, Sophia.
Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant did not object to bail
Gibson and Denny were granted bail and were ordered to report to the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department and lodge their passports.
