Update 2: Flood warning issued due to heavy rainfall, spring tide

The Ministry of Agriculture Tuesday morning at 9:30 upgraded its flood advisory, say that definitely flood prone areas in Regions One, Two, Three and Four will be under several inches of water due to heavy rainfall.

“These conditions are expected to continue for the next 12 -24 hours. Flash Flood warning is in effect for flood prone areas within Regions 1 to 4. The Hydrometeorological Services is monitoring this situation and the next warning will be issued at 12 pm today (Tuesday),” the weather service said. Several areas of the coastland are already under several inches of rainfall.

Forecasters also noted that the heavy rainfall comes at a time when Spring Tide is expected at 2:56 PM Tuesday.

The full advisory follows:

Moderate to Heavy thundershowers and intermittent rain accompanied by occasional gusty winds are affecting Coastal and some inland Regions. Rainfall expected to be greater than 40.0 mm in these Regions.

Expected Condition: These conditions are expected to continue for the next 12 -24 hours. Flash Flood warning is in effect for flood prone areas within Regions 1 to 4. The Hydrometeorological Services is monitoring this situation and the next warning will be issued at 12 pm today.

Spring Tide Advisory is in effect as Residents of coastal, riverain and low-lying areas are advised to take precautions. High tide will be at 14:56 hrs at 2.78meters. Waves and sea conditions will be moderate to rough reaching heights of 2.7 to 3.0 meters in open waters.
