Fire desroys Rosignol store

Fire Sunday afternoon destroyed a store at Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, officials confirmed.

The blaze destroyed Double R General Store.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately known because fire fighters were still engaged mopping up operations, Fire Chief Marlon Gentle told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com).

He said there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries.

Fire fighters from the Guyana Sugar Corporation and the Guyana Fire Service stations at Onverwagt and New Amsterdam responded to the blaze at the decades-old wooden building.
