The People’s Progressive Party Civic’s (PPPC) Vickram Outar Bharrat on Thursday replaced Charles Ramson Jr. who recently resigned to take up a British scholarship to pursue studies in oil and gas.
Bharrat took the oath of office before the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs after his name was extracted from the PPP’s list of candidates through the Guyana Elections Commission.
House Speaker, Dr. Barton Scotland invited parliamentarians across the political divide in wishing Bharrat well in his tenure as a law-maker.
Ramson Jr; in his resignation to the Speaker, had expressed concern about what he had termed the failures of the APNU+AFC coalition government to work towards national consensus and having youths play a greater role in the decision-making process.
