The Leader of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Clement Rohee says that current steps by the Special Organised Crime Unit to question members of the PPP is nothing more than a lengthy procedure that has to unfold.
Over the past week several members of that Party and current serving Parliamentarians have been questioned by SOCU relative to a probe at NICIL.
Those persons include Irfaan Ali, Gail Teixeira, Nigel Dharamall and most recently former Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon.
Former President Samuel Hinds was also among those interrogated by the financial investigation agency.
Questioned at a press conference on Monday, Rohee stated that he was not questioned and it was unlikely that he would be.
He said that so far the members being interrogated were once directors of NICIL or played some role in the company.
“I have had no association with NICIL,” Rohee affirmed stating “it seems to be a lot of Rigmaroles take in place with the current investigation.”
Anand Goolsarran has said that his audit into NICIL has found numerous damning pieces of evidence that shows how NICIL, the government’s holding company for state assets, was being run.
Minister of State, Joseph Harmon had also announced that government had called in the police to conduct a criminal investigation into the matter.
