A gold miner was beaten to death allegedly for stealing a ‘mat’ which collects gold during mining for the precious metal.
Police said three men have been arrested in connection with the death of 25-year old John Mc Pherson of Plum Park, Sophia.
Two other men were also beaten at a mining camp at Oku Backdam, Cuyuni. The trio wwere accused of stealing the mat.
Mc Pherson was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital.
