A 29-year-old woman and her four children were removed from Puruni Landing in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) and taken to a hospital for medical examination before they undergo further evaluation by the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA), police said on Wednesday.

The Guyana Police Force said its ranks, along with personnel from the CCPA, responded to the presence of the woman and her children following a social media post.

Olice said they made contact with the woman and the children at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

“The woman was subsequently escorted, along with the children, to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where medical attention was provided and the relevant authorities were notified regarding the welfare of the children.

On Wednesday April 15, 2026 about 11:00hrs, ranks from the Bartica Police Station, along with representatives of the Child Care and Protection Agency, visited the children at the hospital, where they were examined by a doctor and found to be in good health,” police said.

The mother and children remain at the Bartica Regional Hospital under observation and are awaiting transportation to Georgetown for further assessment, police added.
