A fish vendor on Saturday remained hospitalised for several gunshot wounds he sustained while he was robbed outside his home in West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, police said.
Investigators were informed that the 36-year-old man of River View, West Ruimveldt was shot to his upper right thigh and upper right hip at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 27.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was standing in front of his yard when he was approached by two unidentified males, one armed with what appeared to be a handgun.
“The armed suspect reportedly discharged several rounds in the victim’s direction, causing him to receive injuries to his upper right thigh and right hip. The other suspect then relieved him of an undisclosed quantity of jewellery and cash before both suspects fled the scene on foot,” the Guyana Police Force said.
The victim was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he is receiving medical attention. His condition is listed as stable.
