Finance minister Dr Ashni Singh said a cash grant of GY$100,000 or over GY$60 billion would be paid to Guyanese citizens 18 years and older.
The income tax threshold, he said, would also be increased from GY$130,000 in 2025 to GY$140,000 from 2026.
He also said the Because We Care Cash Grant is now GY$60,000 plus an annual transportation grant of GY20,000 per child but there would be no increase in the GY$5,000 uniform allowance.
He said in his National Budget presentation to the National Assembly that 206,000 children in public and private schools would benefit from the GY$85,000 package.
He also said Guyana’s 95,000 pensioners would see an increase in Old Age Pension from GY$41,000 to GY$46,000 per month with effect from January 1, 2026.
He said Old Age pensioners would receive an annual transportation grant of GY$20,000.
Dr Singh said Public Assistance would now be GY$25,000 up from GY$22,000 per month for more than 46,000 persons.
He also said pathway workers, community enhancement workers, community service officers and community policing groups will benefit from an increase in their monthly stipend from $40,000 to $50,000 with effect from first of January, 2026.
Corporation tax would be scrapped for providers of child care and elderly care facilities.
