President Irfaan Ali and Belize’s Prime Minister John Briceño

President Irfaan Ali would early next month pay an official visit to Belize where he will sign several cooperation agreements, that Central American nation said on Monday.

The Office of the Prime Minister said the Guyanese leader would undertake the state visit to Belize from February 1 to 3.

The Guyana government does not usually say when the President is travelling overseas.

The Belize government says during his visit, President Ali will address the opening of the new session of Parliament.

President Ali is the lead head of government in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for agriculture and “in an effort to strengthen regional cooperation, investment and trade, will undertake a visit with the productive sector.

“It is expected that a number of cooperation agreements will be signed,” the Belizean Prime Minister’s office said.

President Ali will also hold bilateral meetings with Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor-General of Belize and John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize, government officials there said.

“Belize and Guyana have historically shared strong and robust bilateral relations grounded in our commitment to regional solidarity, development and integration,” Mr John Briceño’s office said.
