One Communications on Wednesday announced the appointment of Abraham Smith as Chief Executive Officer, saying he has been tasked with enhancing both commercial and residential customer experience, strengthen network resilience, and expand enterprise partnerships.
“Smith brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience across the Caribbean and Latin America, including recent CEO-level stewardship of one of the region’s largest and most complex markets,” One Communications said in a statement.
One Communications – formerly Guyana Telephone and Telegraph and GTT – also said as CEO, Mr Smith would oversee both One’s residential operations as well as Brava, the company’s business arm.
Mr Smith succeeds Richard Stanton who had been appointed CEO less than one year ago in July 2025.
Brad Martin, Chairman of One Communications said, “As Guyana continues one of the most dynamic periods of growth in its history, the role of reliable, future-ready connectivity has never been more critical. Abraham is a seasoned leader who understands the national responsibility that comes with telecommunications leadership. He has a deep respect for local culture and a commitment to balancing commercial success with meaningful community impact. We are confident he will strengthen One Communications’ role as a trusted partner in Guyana’s development.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mr Smith was Strategic Advisor at ATN International, One Communications’ parent company from July 2025 to present.
He was also a former Chief Executive Officer of Digicel (Trinidad and Tobago), a post from which he stepped down in February 2025.
