Scoop Inc, a wholly-owned Guyanese company, is now the new ground transportation provider for ExxonMobil Guyana, boasting highly trained and constantly substance-tested staff, Chief Executive Officer Edmond Braithwaite said Sunday.
He told Demerara Waves Online News that his company has so far invested US$2 million and employed about 200 persons.
Eyeing contracts with other companies in the oil and gas sector, he forecasts that the company will have invested about US$5 million and the staff will grow to about 400 persons.
The Scoop Inc CEO confirmed that his company has been contracted by ExxonMobil to be the sole provider of transportation services.
Cyril’s Transportation Service lost its foothold in ExxonMobil after its owner Muishankar Persaud had fired his licenced 9mm pistol and disabled the vehicle assigned to ExxonMobil Guyana’s President Alistair Routledge at 4:30 p.m. on 12 December 2024 at the corner of Drury Lane and Lamaha Street, Georgetown. At that time, Mr Persaud had told police that two of his vehicles were stolen.
Mr Braithwaite said the drivers are trained to international standards, which include theoretical and practical defensive driving, and courtesy.
He said all staff are tested randomly for alcohol and narcotic substances.
Tapping into his more than 40 years of business experience in the United States (US), he was encouraged by a family member, who is in the local transportation sector, to start Scoop.
He said the vehicles are all monitored by global positioning system (GPS) technology to determine location, speed and other modes of driving.
Also, he said the vehicles are equipped for emergencies.
Prime Minister Mark Phillips told a reception to mark the launch of Scoop that the growth in Guyana’s transportation sector reflects increased access to technology-driven mobility, broader infrastructure development and policy measures that are encouraging innovation.
Other value-added services, he said, include Banks DIH-produced water or beverages in each vehicle, and neatly attired and service-oriented drivers.
Meanwhile, he said ERES (Energy Real Estate Solutions) Guyana Inc of which he is the company’s principal, is offering real estate and property management services.
He said ERES Guyana is linked to the United States-headquartered ERES whose major clients include ExxonMobil.
