Vreed-en-Hoop phone store owner fatally shoots policeman

A policeman was shot dead at the Vreed-en-hoop stelling, West Coast Demerara by a businessman who owns a mobile phone store at the same location

The incident involving 34-year-old Lance Corporal, Richard Hayes who lived at Jetty Squatting Area, occurred this morning.

The suspect is 37-year-old Robert Hoosein.

“Investigations so far indicate that there was an argument between the two over the sale of a cell phone and the suspect shot the victim,” the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.

Police said they have also seized the businessman’s licensed firearm as investigations continue.
