Two guns and ammunition, two cellular phones and one small wooden boat were among several items seized during marijuana eradication exercises at three marijuana cultivations sites in the Upper Berbice River but no one was arrested, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said in a statement.
During the operation from October 3 to 6, police said they used a drone in one of the operations in the Ebini Savannahs to identify a six-acre farm that was already prepared for planting marijuana.
The law enforcement agency said they destroyed four nursery beds with about 5,000 cannabis seedlings, 64 pounds of dried cannabis, and three other acres of marijuana plants as high as six feet.
Thirty of the 64 pounds of cannabis were found in an abandoned church.
Police estimated the street value of the marijuana at just over GY$5 million.
They also seized one 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun, one chainsaw, and one cellular phone.
Two hammocks, a camp and other contents were destroyed by fire, police said.
At Wiruni, police said they searched two wooden houses and found one .32 pistol with an empty magazine, three 20-gauge shotgun cartridges, two cellular phones, one 15 horsepower outboard engine, and one 50 horsepower outboard engine and a wooden boat.
The items were confiscated and taken to the Kwakwani Police Station.
Police said they destroyed a makeshift camp, 90 pounds of cannabis, a quantity of four-feet tall cannabis plants, two garden beds of about 3,000 seedlings, and an agriculture mower.
