Well-known Guyanese gold dealer Tameshwar Jagmohan early on Tuesday morning denied claims that he was involved in smuggling gold from the neighbouring Venezuelan government allegedly through high-ranking military officials there.
“I categorically deny all of the allegations made in the interview. I have always conducted my business in strict compliance with the laws of Guyana. The timing of these unfounded claims is suspicious and raises serious questions about the motives behind their release,” he said in a statement.
Mr Jagmohan said the former employee, who was a gold buying agent several years ago, and those who were connected to the interview could face legal action. “All legal options are being considered, including proceedings against Mr. Baksh and any individuals who may have influenced or facilitated these statements,” he said. The purported interview was posted on the 592 Media Inc Facebook page.
Mr Jagmohan said the video contains “false and damaging allegations about my past business dealings.”
