Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton has been admitted to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for observation, after complaining of feeling unwell, the Ministry of the Presidency said.
No further details were provided. The Ministry of the Presidency said it “will provide relevant updates where necessary.”
Hospital sources said Norton did not suffer a heart attack, but went to the hospital with headache, high blood pressure and slightly slurred speech.
Up to about 4:45 PM Thursday, he was still hospitalised but conscious and alert.
Norton, a Cuban-trained ophthalmologist, is a Vice Chairman of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR).
Up to recently he was the Minister of Public Health.
