Police were Monday probing the brutal chopping and beating to death of a 13-year old boy following an argument over a girl on the East Coast Demerara.
Investigators said they were probing the alleged murder of Daveand Sanchar, 13 years, of Plantain Walk, Triumph, ECD, which occurred about 11:30 Sunday night, August 14, 2016 at Plantain Walk Access Road, Triumph, East Coast Demerara .
Police said the probe has so far revealed that Sanchar who was at a function in the said village, had an altercation with some men over a female.
“He (deceased) subsequently left, and returned with a cutlass. A further argument ensued and it was alleged that one of the men took away the cutlass and dealt him a chop to his head. Whilst on the ground, he was given a severe beating with a stick,” the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.
The victim was rushed the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspects are all in custody assisting the police with the investigation, police said.
