Fisherman’s body found in net

Police were Tuesday probing the death of a fisherman whose body was found in the net of a fishing vessel that was working in the vicinity of the Berbice River in eastern Guyana.

The man has been identified as Shahabudeen Haniff, 49 years, of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.

The body was discovered in the net of the vessel on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Haniff was a member of the crew of a fishing boat that had sailed on December 30, 2015, from a wharf at New Hope, East Bank Demerara for the Berbice area.
