One dead, another injured in Albouystown

Violent crime Monday rocked Albouystown, leaving one man dead and another seriously injured in separate incidents.

Dead is 37-year old Troy Brutus of Costello Housing Scheme, Georgetown and injured is Berkumar Ramrattan,46, of Hogg Street, Albouystown.

Police said that about 7:30 PM Monday, 23 November, 2015 at at Garnett Street, Albouystown, attacked a man with a cutlass and knife and chopped him to his hand and face. The man, however, managed to take away the knife from Brutus and stabbed him about his body.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Police said the suspect has been arrested and is admitted to that hospital where he is under police guard.

Also, at about 5:30 PM, Monday November 23, 2015, Ramrattan was about to enter his residence when he was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.

Investigators were told that the men demanded cash to which Ramrattan resisted and he was shot and injured to his right foot.

The perpetrators took away GYD$30,000.00 and escaped in a waiting motor car. Ramrattan has been admitted to hospital.

Investigations are in progress.
