Five arrested for home invasion, armed robbery

Five persons are expected to be charged with the home invasion and armed robbery committed on a family at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara earlier this week.

“Diligent work by ranks of “D” Division will soon see the perpetrators of the Armed Robbery committed on the Sookrams’ Family of 82 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, WBD, which occurred last Thursday, being charged and placed before the court,” police said in a statement

Investigators said five persons were arrested and were fully co-operating with investigators.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 PM, Thursday October 22, 2015 when five men, one of whom was armed with a handgun and the others with cutlasses, entered the home of Andy Sookram, 54 years of 82 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, EBD.

There, they tied up Andy Sookram and occupants Andrew Sookram, 18 years and Esardai Sookram 47 years.

The men then took away two generators, a weeding machine, eight gold finger rings, two (2) gas cylinders and four (4) cell phone and escaped.
