Nagamootoo best man to lead national unity talks with PPP- Trotman

Last Updated on Wednesday, 9 September 2015, 16:39 by GxMedia

Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo
The Guyana government on Wednesday confirmed that Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo is leading a team into National Unity talks with the opposition People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) and that he is the best man for the job.

Minister of Governance , Raphael Trotman said government believed that Nagamootoo was the best lead negotiator despite his acrimonious relationship with the PPPC. “I think we favour… to have Mr. Nagamootoo, who is seen off course as a contentious person in the eyes of the Opposition out there and upfront because I think we have to sincere, genuine long-lasting healing and reconciliation we have to confront the devils that beset us and lessen the way we demonize each other and deal with each other respectfully whether we like each other or not,” he said.

The other team members are Trotman, Vice Presidents Carl Greenidge, Khemraj Ramjattan and also Attorney General Basil Williams and Minister of State Joseph Harmon.

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo has poured cold water on Nagamootoo’s announcement that he made at Whim Village, Corentyne.

Jagdeo said he believed that the Prime Minister was politicking and that he would only believe if he heard from Presiden David Granger.
