GuySuco employee dies in mishap at Rose Hall estate

A Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuco) employee was  Monday evening killed after a Bell Loader he was operating fell into a canal at Rose Hall Estate, East Berbice, according to well-placed sources.

Initial information reaching Demerara Waves Online News is that Mohammed Oosman was crossing a makeshift bridge from one field to another when the boards loosened.

The Bell Loader fell overboard  along with Oosman who lived at Canefield, East Canje, Berbice. He was eventually taken out of the canal and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Oosman’s family members, relatives, numerous colleagues  and senior staff converged at the hospital shortly after the incident.

The workers, especially those at Lot 16 Rose Hall Estate, suspended work for the remainder of the shift.
