He was in his 60s.
Reid of Tony Reid’s Realty, Duncan Street, Bel Air Park, Georgetown died at a city hospital on Thursday, August 27, 2015.
Demerara Waves Online News was told that Reid was injured with a bottle fragment. His situation rapidly deteriorated.
Former Head of the now defunct Guyana National Cooperative Bank (GNCB), Steve Backer recalled Reid being a young promising employee who was that financial institution’s first recipient of a scholarship to study at the University of Guyana. “He did his best…He greeted me well, a very mannerly young man. Never passed me anywhere and giving all these books to read. He turned a prophet, he said,” said Backer.
Reid entered the real estate market in the 1980s and quickly emerged as one of Guyana’s leading agents, despite some early challenges with one of his business partners at the time.
Reid later became a devout Christian.
