A man was Sunday shot and seriously injured by a wanted man during an argument at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, police said.
Injured is 34-year old Jomo Lewis of Plaisance Squatting Area.
Police said he was shot by Rawle Franklin, a known felon, who is wanted for a series of robberies in the Plaisance area.
Investigators were told that Franklin fled the scene shortly after shooting Lewis.
The incident occurred at about 2:45 PM at a village dance. “He (Franklin) whipped out a gun and discharged three rounds two of which hit Lewis,” the senior police officer told Demerara Waves Online News.
Police later said in a statement that two men were involved in an argument on the Plaisance Railway Embankment when one of them discharged rounds at the other which missed and struck Lewis to his shoulder and abdomen. He has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for treatment.
Franklin has been linked to several criminal offences dating back to the early 2000s.
