Dead is 27-year old Colin “Bow” Kendall of North Sophia and injured is another man so far identified as “Keith.” Investigators said he was hit to his left side and has been admitted to hospital.
Police said that at about 9:40 Sunday night, a group of men were under a shed at NorthContent Sophia when a car drove up and a man armed with a firearm exited and discharged rounds in their direction.
“The perpetrator escaped in the waiting motor vehicle,” police said.
Kendall’s mother, June Watts, said her son had been arrested by the police for various offences but they had turned out to be untrue. She said she had not heard that among the accusations leveled at her son was that he had raped a girl last year. “I don’t know about any rape story,” she told reporters.
Watts said she was unaware of any recent problem he might have had with anyone.
