Anglican Bishop of Guyana, Rt. Rev. Cornell Moss

Anglican Bishop of Guyana, Rt. Rev. Cornell Moss died on Saturday in Miami, Florida where he was recuperating from heart surgery, according to well-placed sources.

Moss, who is a native of The Bahamas, died mid afternoon after suffering a relapse.

Relatives and close associates are in shock at his passing because he had appeared to be recovering well from surgery that he underwent one week ago.

A senior member of the Anglican Diocese confirmed Bishop Moss’ passing, but said he was awaiting further information from the late Bishop’s personal assistant.

The Rt. Rev. Moss had been the Bishop of Guyana since 8 December 2009.

News of Moss’ illness had surfaced one year ago when he had been hospitalized in The Bahamas for hypertension, diabetes, lung infection and a heart condition.

In 2008, he was diagnosed with Diabetes TYPE 2 and congestive heart failure.
