Man shot at newspaper distributorship

A newspaper vendor was Sunday morning shot outside a newspaper distributorship in Georgetown, police said.

Investigators identified him as 47-year old Warren Accra of Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara.

The incident occurred about 7:20 AM on Robb Street, Georgetown near Scotia Bank.

The distributorship supplies vendors for Kaieteur News and Guyana Times newspapers.

Police said that a man, who was armed with a handgun, shot Accra to his chest and took away an undisclosed sum of cash and escaped. Accra has been admitted to hospital.

Investigations are in progress, police said.
