Drunken driver kills Essequibo Coast pedestrians

A drunken driver, who ploughed into pedestrians early Sunday morning and killed them, was caught at his home, police said.

Dead are Adrian Osborne,23, and Colin John,20, of Henrietta, Essequibo Coast. Police said they were walking along the roadway at Richmond, Essequibo Coast  about 3 AM Sunday when they were struck down by a motor vehicle.
 

Osborne and John were pronounced dead on arrival at the Suddie Hospital.

Police said the driver of the vehicle sped away from the scene and he was later caught at his residence in an intoxicated state.

“The driver of the motor vehicle was later arrested at his home and was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol,” police said in a statement.

He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
